Level 1 During the two-and-a-half days of Level 1, students learn practical application of the NeuroSoma® techniques to 17 large, easily palpated muscles, and gain an overview of the science supporting NeuroSoma®. Level 1 focuses on the back, gluteals, and hip. You learn to treat the basic "skewed torso pattern" which affects everyone to one degree or another, as well as protocols for upper and lower back pain, and hip and thigh pain. (20 Contact Hours NCBTMB). We recommend, in fact strongly urge you to read "What's Really Wrong With You? A Revolutionary Look at How Muscles Affect Your Health", by Thomas Griner with Maxine Nunes, prior to taking Level 1.
Levels 2 through Advanced Level 5 are each two-day courses wherein students continue to practice NeuroSoma®. Levels 2 & 3, and also 4 & 5 are usually grouped together for the convenience of those traveling some distances. However you may choose to do only one of the two offered if you prefer to take it more slowly. In these four Levels, you learn to treat 58 additional muscles most prone to spasm. As Levels progress, the muscles studied require increasing skill to treat and are considered in context with patterns of spasticity and appropriate protocols. Additionally, some portion of the science supporting NeuroSoma® is reviewed in each Level, such as ligaments & tendons, circulation & shunts, the muscle spindle, the metabolism, and fast & slow twitch fibers. (16 Contact Hours NCBTMB each Level)
Master Level 6 (20 Hours NCBTMB) requires 20 hours over two-and-a-half days. Here students thoroughly review and treat all 75 muscle groups previously studied, all patterns of spasticity and protocols of treatment, and briefly review the science of NeuroSoma®. Diplomas are issued following successful completion of written and practical exams, and the graduate becomes a NeuroSoma® Practitioner (20 Contact Hours NCBTMB). Further work can be undertaken from that point to gain the title of Certified NeuroSoma® Myotherapist.
Expected Outcome. Level 1 students learn the basic stroke techniques and are able to apply them immediately to treat muscles of the back and gluteal area, the ubiquitous "skewed torso pattern" and 4 other patterns. Skills increase through each succeeding level in ability to assess and treat injuries throughout the body. As a graduate of NeuroSoma®, you will have eminently increased understanding of the function and malfunction of muscle tissue and the means to identify and treat individual muscles, both for specific problems and in patterns of spasm. You will feel a new level of professional confidence, and will find that your horizons as a therapist have expanded exponentially.
